F1

If you're into high-octane racing, big personalities, and a bit of Hollywood flair, F1 is your kind of movie. Directed by Joseph Kosinski (of Top Gun: Maverick fame) and starring Brad Pitt, this sports drama dives into the world of Formula One with a mix of grit, speed, and cinematic polish.
The story centers on Sonny Hayes (Pitt), a former F1 prodigy who’s been out of the game for decades. After a rough crash in the '90s and a life full of personal setbacks, Sonny is pulled back into the sport to help save a struggling team, APXGP. He’s not just there to drive—he’s also mentoring a young, cocky rookie named Joshua Pearce (played by Damson Idris). The dynamic between the seasoned veteran and the ambitious newcomer adds plenty of tension and heart to the film.
F1 doesn’t just rely on fictional drama—it’s packed with real-world racing action. Filmed during actual Grand Prix weekends with the cooperation of the FIA, the movie features appearances from real F1 drivers like Lewis Hamilton (who also produced the film), Max Verstappen, and Charles Leclerc. The racing scenes are intense and beautifully shot, thanks to cutting-edge camera tech and a hybrid score by Hans Zimmer that blends orchestral and electronic sounds.
The film has been a box office hit, grossing nearly $600 million worldwide, and it’s now the highest-grossing movie of Brad Pitt’s career. Critics mostly liked it, praising Pitt’s performance and the thrilling race sequences, though some hardcore F1 fans and motorsport journalists found the plot a bit too Hollywood and the portrayal of the sport not entirely realistic.
If you love fast cars, underdog stories, and slick visuals, F1 delivers. It’s especially fun for casual fans of racing or those who enjoyed the adrenaline of Top Gun: Maverick. But if you're a die-hard F1 purist looking for a documentary-level portrayal of the sport, you might find yourself rolling your eyes at some of the dramatics.
Still, with its mix of real racing, star power, and blockbuster energy, F1 is a crowd-pleaser that brings the roar of the track to the big screen in style.
