Filmoteca de Catalunya is the film archive of Catalonia, in a building that opened in 2012 in El Raval, near the Rambla de les Flors and the Liceu Opera House. Its screenings combine classic cinema with contemporary films that rarely reach commercial screens, with guest speakers and discussions at some sessions. The building also houses exhibition spaces, a film library, a bookshop and a bar-restaurant.
The Filmoteca gives Liceu (L3) and Paral·lel (L2) as its nearest Metro stations, and the centre's visitor information page lists bus routes and nearby parking. There are two screening rooms, the Chomón Auditorium and the Laya Screening Room. The Filmoteca states that both are accessible to wheelchair users and people with reduced mobility; its page on the Raval centre has the room details. Once a film has started, the screening rooms cannot be entered.
The Filmoteca's own programme labels sessions by version, including original versions with subtitles and dubbed Catalan or Spanish versions. These labels can mislead: VOSA means original version with English subtitles, VOSC and VOSE mean Catalan and Spanish subtitles, and none of them means English audio. Our listings here are for English-audio screenings.
