That is the whole point. Most cinemas in Barcelona dub international films into Spanish or Catalan, and the original-version sessions are spread across many cinemas and change every week. What do VO, VOSE and versión original mean?
In Spain most films arrive dubbed, so the labels that tell you a film is in its original language are the ones to look for.
- VO (versión original): the film plays in its original language, not dubbed. For an English-language film, that means you hear the original English.
- VOSE (versión original subtitulada en español): the original version with Spanish subtitles.
- Versión original is the umbrella term for any undubbed screening. You may also see VOSC, which is the original version with Catalan subtitles.
When you want to watch a film in English, look for VO or VOSE. Our films page already filters for English-language screenings, so you do not have to decode each cinema's listing yourself.
Where to watch films in original version, by neighbourhood
Original-version screenings turn up all over Barcelona, from small independent screens to large multiplexes. Here are the cinemas we track, grouped by area. Each link opens our page for that cinema, where you can see what it is currently showing in English.
Gràcia
- Cinemes Verdi, on Carrer de Verdi in the heart of Vila de Gràcia.
- Mooby Bosque, on Rambla de Prat, also in Gràcia.
El Raval and the old town
- Filmoteca de Catalunya, the Catalan public film archive and cinematheque in El Raval, which programmes archival and world cinema alongside new releases.
- Cinema Maldà, a small screen tucked into the Barri Gòtic.
Eixample
- Renoir Floridablanca, on Carrer de Floridablanca in Sant Antoni.
- Mooby Aribau, on Carrer d'Aribau in the central Eixample.
- Phenomena, on Carrer de Sant Antoni Maria Claret, near the Sagrada Família.
Uptown: Sant Gervasi and Sarrià
- Mooby Balmes, on the upper stretch of Carrer de Balmes.
- Mooby Gran Sarrià, near Ronda del General Mitre.
Plaça d'Espanya and Sants
- Arenas de Barcelona Multicines, inside the former Las Arenas bullring on Plaça d'Espanya.

- Cines Filmax Gran Vía, in neighbouring L'Hospitalet de Llobregat.
